Jan Cook Artist

My work is an ongoing exploration of living, thinking and feeling.  The process involved with making is one of experimentation with the media I enjoy handling…… wondering how this piece of fabric will respond to folding, crumpling, will this sheet of paper take to dye, will stitching detail enhance the piece?

I am attracted to materials that possess a personal or intimate quality and so source material may have had a previous life, been worn or kept in a linen cupboard, stood on a bookshelf.

Through the process of deconstruction and transformation my creative juices are kept flowing and what emerges is often unexpected, surprising, sometimes witty.

I exhibit as a member of the art collective 6328 Studio.
